Volume school work fails in a way portrait work does not. Nobody compares two unrelated headshots side by side — but a composite class print puts thirty children in a grid, and a parent comparing this year's photo to last year's spots any drift immediately.
The drift is usually the room. A gym hall lit through high windows changes over six hours, so the children photographed at nine and the ones photographed at three come out on different white balance. Left alone it shows up as a warm half and a cool half of the year group. Correcting that across a whole day is most of what this service does.
