A twilight exterior is the most reliably eye-catching image in real estate marketing. Lit windows read as warmth and occupancy, the sky carries colour instead of blown-out white, and the property separates from everything around it on a portal grid of daytime thumbnails.
The problem is scheduling. Real dusk gives you perhaps twenty usable minutes, once, on a day that may be overcast — and the shoot was booked for eleven in the morning because that is when the vendor was home. Day-to-dusk conversion gets the same image from the exterior you already took, for $4, without a second visit.
Done badly it is obvious: a purple gradient dropped behind a building still lit by midday sun, windows glowing on a house whose walls say noon. The work is in relighting the whole frame to agree with the new sky — which is why we grade the full image rather than swapping the sky and calling it done.

Day to dusk questions
How much does day-to-dusk editing cost per image?
Day-to-dusk conversion starts at $4 per image. There is no minimum order — most agents convert one or two hero exteriors per listing rather than the whole set, because the value is in the thumbnail and the first image a buyer sees.
How many photos should I convert for one listing?
Usually one or two. The front elevation that carries the listing thumbnail is the one that matters, and a rear or poolside shot if the property sells on outdoor space. Converting every exterior tends to look repetitive rather than premium.
What makes a daytime photo convert well?
A clean, well-exposed shot with the sky visible and the property clearly lit. We are relighting the frame, not rescuing it — an underexposed or heavily backlit original limits how convincing the result can be. Shoot it as you would any exterior and it will convert fine.
Can you turn on the interior and exterior lights?
Yes, that is part of the service. Interior lights are brought up warm behind the glass, and porch, path, garden and pool lighting are switched on and balanced against the ambient level so nothing blows out.
Will it look fake?
Not if the whole frame is relit rather than just the sky. The usual tell is a twilight sky behind a building still lit by midday sun. We re-grade the entire image to the new colour temperature, which is why our conversions hold up at full screen.
Do I need to disclose that a photo was converted?
Rules vary by market and board, and enhanced or altered images are increasingly expected to be labelled. Check your local requirements — many agents caption the image, and we can add a label on request.
Can you do day-to-dusk on drone and aerial shots?
Yes. Aerial exteriors convert well because the sky is usually a large part of the frame. Aerial editing is priced separately from $2.50 per image if the shot also needs general enhancement.
